Following you may find some funding possibilities for research
collaboration visits (please also see opportunities in International Collaborations).
CBPF/COSMO
There might be some money for visitors within the department
COSMO or CBPF. If interested, please feel free to ask any of the COSMO professors in
here about it.
CNPq - APV
The CNPq funding modality 'Auxilio Pesquisador Visitante' (APV)
is intendend for visits of research and/or lecturing character to CBPF (or another Brazilian
institution). The duration
of the visit can be up to 30 days and the funding covers
the flights and daily expenses of the visitor.
It is possible to apply for a APV at any time of the year but it
must be done at least 90 days before the start of the visit.
For further information you may see
here (in Portuguese).
CNPq - PV and PVE
The two CNPq funding modalities 'Pesquisador Visitante' (PV) and
'Special Visiting Researcher/Pesquisador Visitante Especial' (PVE)
are intendend only for visitors to CBPF (or another Brazilian institution) who are 'internationally-recognized scientific leaders'.
The duration of the visit of a PV is between 3 and 12 months (exceptionally extendable by another 12 months).
In the PVE case, the objective is the establishment of an international cooperation and so the research visits are intended in the two directions. The duration of the visit of a PVE to CBPF is between 1 and 3 months (continuous or not) during either 2 or 3 years.
There are usually 3 calls a year, with deadlines in January, May and September corresponding to visits
starting some time during June-September, October-December and February-May (of the following year), respectively.
For further information you may see 'Special Visiting Researcher' in

for researchers/professors to visit institutions in developing countries such as Brazil.
Please see here for
current options.
CAPES-ICRANet
This is a program of the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics Network (ICRANet) and the topic of research should
be in relativistic astrophysics and/or cosmology.
There are options for visits in either direction Brazil<->abroad. The institution of the researcher abroad, however, should be a member of ICRANet.
In the case of a visit abroad by the researcher in Brazil, the
researcher abroad should be a scientist in an
ICRANet center in Europe. The duration of the visit is 5 months and applications are opened during the entire year.
In the case of a visit to Brazil by the researcher abroad, this researcher should be a senior scientist in a
ICRANet center in Asia, Europe or the U.S.A. The visits are for up to 3 years and each year up to 3 months.
