Venue

The conference will be held at the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas/Brazilian Center for Research in Physics (CBPF). There is security staff at the CBPF entrance who will ask you to show some I.D. to let you in. So, on the first day of the conference, please remember to bring some official I.D. of yours (on the following days it should suffice to show the Capra name tag that we will give you on the first day). Specifically inside CBPF, it will be held at the Auditorium Ministro Joao Alberto Lins e Baros, which is right beside the side entrance to CBPF (i.e., the entrance beside the scientific mural, on Rua Lauro Muller). The main entrance to CBPF, in its turn, is at the address Dr. Xavier Sigaud 150, CEP 22290-180, Urca, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For a link to the location of CBPF in GoogleMaps, click here. Unfortunately, CBPF is not near a metro stop, but it is near the Rio Sul shopping mall, to/from which there are plenty of local buses to any other part of the city.

If you are feeling sporty, there is a decent public bicycle system in Rio de Janeiro, whereby a small fee, you can take and drop a bicycle in one of the many bicycle stands throughout the city (including one right in front of CBPF). It is called "Itau bikes" - see here. Alternatively, you may prefer to rent a bicycle from a private shop. There is a good bicycle lane along the beach, including up to CBPF along Botafogo, Copacabana, Urca and Ipanema, but the cycling lane system is much worse away from the beach lane (and the traffic in Rio is really not bicycle friendly).
