TEMA: Lattice QCD a Many-Body Problem
Lattice QCD deals with the renormalization problem of this quantum field
theory in a controlled way. The spectrum of the lattice QCD Hamiltonian
– describing the hadrons – is a usually determined by Feynman path
integral methods. The structure of the QCD many-body problem is
discussed for a pure glue theory, which shows some connection with the
theory of a quantized top. Quarks may as well be included, demonstrating
the role of the Dirac sea in the breaking of chiral symmetry and the
U(1)-anomaly. First results of the application of the coupled cluster
method (Koester-Kuemmel) for a glub-ball spectrum are presented.
