Praia do Forte - BA
(April/May, 2001)

Alex, Gisele, Caíque and Régis

Ah... Praia do Forte!

Angélica and I arrived on Saturday (04/28), in the afternoon. Caíque (who stayed in Utah during his AFS year), Gisele and Régis (both went to Kansas) were already there, hiking, swimming and having a great time!

From our room's varanda, we saw them coming. Hugs, kisses and the necessary introduction (Angélica and Gisele had never met before...). After that we went out for lunch. Moqueca, of course!

That night, Larissa (Régis' fiancee) arrived. We talked a lot, we laughed a lot!

The following day began with a visit to Tamar project, a "save the marine turtles" institution.

All of us.

From there, we went to Praia de Papa-Gente (people-eating beach!). We wanted to dive in its natural pools.

The only thing I didn't enjoy about that day was the walk back home. I was so tired!

On Monday, we decided to go to another beach, some 8 miles north of the Forte: Imbassaí.

"Plenary meeting" in our room,
where we decided what to do.

Imbassaí brought us the most pleasant of all days! A thin strip of sand, with the ocean at one side and a river at the other. Plus coconuts and a lot of beer! And some local finger foods!

Everybody, by the river.

At night, we talked a lot, by the pool. On Tuesday, a soft rain kept us in the hotel. We stayed by the pool. After lunch (moqueca, of course!), the Chermans said their fairwells, leaving the Forte towards the Chapada (where Caíque would join us later).
